A husband or wife may leave the marriage if the spouse deals with drunk driving charges often. The unhappy spouse may also take the children away from the marriage and ask the family court to require that the offender have supervised visitations with the children until that person cleans up his or her behavior.

In the worst case, drunk drivers cause accidents that results in devastating injury or death of innocent people. Judges know that no amount of legal action against a drunk driver can alleviate the grief of survivors.
